Don’t have the Novation Launchpad S but want it really bad? No problem. Get the TouchOSC app on your mobile device or tablet.
The good news here is – I just programmed a template for the Novation Launchpad S for all you beatmakers who own an iPad or Tablet with TouchOSC installed. This is the first basic version with functional Pad buttons and has been fully tested on FL Studio using Midi Bridge from TouchOSC website. The settings you need to apply within FL Studio are – change the ‘Performance mode MIDI channel’ to ‘1’, change the ‘Input Controller Type’ to ‘Novation Launchpad S’ and ensure TouchOSC Bridge in both Output and Input are enabled and set to the same port – say ‘8’. You can do all of these under MIDI settings accessible via keyboard shortcut F10. Now you don’t need the expensive hardware!
The XY-Layout is for the FL Studio Performance mode and the Drum Layout is for real-time drumming. The MIDI signals have been perfectly matched with all the keys, so it doesn’t really matter which DAW you are using. The only buttons left un-mapped are the ones in the topmost row in grey color, since I couldn’t find the MIDI instructions from the device. DO NOT use ‘Automap’ app which comes along with the Novation Launchpad S hardware (free to download from Novation website), as this is untested and might lead to errors. I recommend using a tablet to be able to hit the pads comfortably.
